Position Paper on the Brutal Murder of George Floyd

The Sarasota County Democratic Jewish Caucus condemns the brutal murder of George Floyd. Together with the African American Community, and all who believe in justice and human rights, we call for changes to the way law enforcement relates to people of color. We call on our community and national leaders to work together to heal and bring about change.   As Jews, we know all too well the dangers of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.  Racism and racial profiling has led to unequal treatment under the law and in the case of George Floyd, and too many other people of color…. tragic death.

We pledge to join with others in our community to continue to work on programs that will address racism, divisiveness, and hate.

May George Floyd’s  memory live on as a stimulus for social change.
